Manuel Tello Macías
Manuel Tello Macías (March 15, 1935 – March 23, 2010) was a Mexican politician and diplomat who served as secretary of foreign affairs of Mexico.[1][2][3]
Early life
Born in Mexico City, he studied international relations at Georgetown University and obtained a master's degree in the same discipline at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva.[1]
Career
He was ambassador of Mexico to Great Britain and France, as well as a permanent representative at the United Nations in Geneva.[1][3]
He assumed the post of secretary of foreign affairs by appointment of President Carlos Salinas de Gortari from January 10 to November 30, 1994.[4] During his tenure, he signed the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's formal invitation for Mexico to become a full member.[1][5]
He was the son of Mexican diplomat and secretary of foreign affairs Manuel Tello Baurraud, and the brother of Mexican diplomat and economist Carlos Tello Macías and José López Portillo, a former president of Mexico.[1]
