Mateo Mejía

José Mateo Mejía Piedrahita (born 21 March 2003) is a Colombian footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester United.

In this Spanish name, the first or paternal surname is Mejía and the second or maternal family name is Peidrahita.

Career

Club career

As a youth player, Mejía joined the youth academy of Spanish second-tier side Zaragoza.[1][2] In 2019, he joined the youth academy of Manchester United in the English Premier League.[3][4]

On 28 June 2023, Mejía signed a new contract with Manchester United.[5]

International career

Even though he was born in Spain, Mejía is also eligible to represent Colombia internationally through his parents.[6][7] He made his debut for the Colombia under-20 side in 2-legged friendly match against Peru under-20 on 13 December 2022.
