Olive Downs mine

The Olive Downs mine is a metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin of Queensland, Australia. It is located 40 kilometres south of Moranbah. The mine straddles the Isaac River.[1] The mine has a production life of 80 years and is expected to service markets in Japan and China.[2]

Olive Downs is owned by Pembroke Resources. Once operational it will be the third largest coal mine in Queensland, producing up to 15 million tonnes a year.[1] It has reserves of 514 million tonnes.[3]

Construction of the mine had begun by April 2022.[4] Production is expected to commence in 2023.[4]
