Potluri Vara Prasad (born 8 September 1970), is an Indian politician, businessman and entrepreneur. He holds the position of Executive Chairman & Managing Director at PVP Ventures Ltd. and Managing Director & Executive Director at Picturehouse Media Ltd.[3][4][5]

Early life
Potluri Prasad was born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India, to Potluri Raghavendra Rao and P Manga Taradevi. He has two siblings. He attended NSM Public School in Vijayawada, followed by Mechanical Engineering from Nagarjuna University. [6] In 1994, he completed a Master’s degree at a university in Australia, and in 1995 arrived in the United States. [7]
Career
Procon, Inc. Michigan and Albion Orion Company LLC, 1996 to 2000
Prasad started his first company in 1996. The company, Procon Inc., an IT services company, was acquired by RCM Technologies in 1998. AOC, LLC was acquired by SSI[8] in 2000 for INR 2.92 billion,[9] then the largest cross-border deal. Irevna Limited was acquired by CRISIL (S&P India) in 2005.[10]
In 2000, he founded Albion Orion Company,[11] an IT solutions company, by acquiring and restructuring two high-end solution providers, Albion International in Atlanta and Orion Consulting in Minneapolis. Subsequently, led the merger of the consolidated entity to SSI Ltd., a publicly traded firm on LSE for $63.65m (2.92 billion), considered as the largest cross border transaction in India as of December 2000.[12]
IREVNA Ltd. and PVP Ventures Ltd., 2001 to 2007
In late 2000, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he co-founded company Irevna Ltd., an organisation providing analytics and research services to investment banks from offshore location. The organisation was the first to pioneer KPO services. Irevna Ltd. was acquired by CRISIL Ltd.,[13] an S&P company in May 2005. This company contributes 50% of entire profitability for Crisil in the current environment.[14]
The company has investment interests in realty and is one of the largest investors in the country in media and entertainment. The company focusses on special situation transactions across multiple domains. The company was formed via acquisition of SSI Ltd. in Chennai on 27 February 2007 with an FDI investment of 8.93 billion.
In 2006 he founded PVP Ventures Ltd., [15] of which he is still chairman & managing director. PVP is a publicly traded corporation traded on BSE,[16] NSE[17] & LSE[18] with 35,000 shareholders. In July 2010, PVP Group ventured into the Indian Media & Entertainment Industry via "Picturehouse Media Ltd". ("PHML"), it is India's largest organised media capital house, supporting the Financing needs of the Indian Entertainment Industry. PHML recent foray into mainstream film production under the banner of PVP Cinema is one of the largest production houses in the country.[19][20][21][22]
In July 2010, PVP group ventured into the Indian Media & Entertainment Industry via "Picturehouse Media Limited" (listed on BSE[23][24] ) and its subsidiary "PVP Capital Ltd." (RBI registered NBFC). Within 2.5 years, PHML has achieved phenomenal success in Tamil & Telugu film financing.[25]
In line with the vision, PVP made a bid for Deccan Chargers Team (Hyderabad franchise of Indian Premier League) and emerged as the highest bidder.[26][27] PVP has recently invested in the Hyderabad franchise "Hyderabad Hotshots"[28][29][30][31] of Indian Badminton League and emerged as the Winning Champions in the Inaugural season of league – 2013.[32][33][34]
2008 to present
He is chief patron of Prasad Vara. Potluri Siddhartha Institute of Technology,[35][36][37] in Vijaywada. He is also a patron in LV Prasad Eye Institute.[38] He is the owner of the Hyderabad Hotshots,[39][40][41] one of the six franchises of Indian Badminton League and former co-owner of the Kerala Blasters F.C.
He is a Strategic Investor in Maven Corp[42][43] and Karvy Consultants[44] & a Founding Investor of CBay Systems.[45][46]
Political career
In 2019, Potluri Prasad joined the YSR Congress Party prior to the elections. He received confirmation from the YCP leadership for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha ticket. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy extended a warm welcome to him as a new member of the party.[47] However, in the election, Mr. Prasad was defeated by Telugu Desam candidate Kesineni Srinivas by a margin of 8,720 votes.[48][49]

The institution has 4000 students and has an impressive array of alumni. Was involved in supporting funding and development of the institute which was opened by Hon’ble Sri. M. Venkaiah Naidu in 2000.

A non-profit organization that has redefined quality eye care for the under privileged in India. Was one of the early donors in year 2000 and was actively involved in introducing new donors around the world.
Pro Bono Advisory, Overseas education & Career planning
Over the last 30 years, has personally provided pro bono advice, financial support and job creation for 3000 youngsters. Have invested and continue to expend significant time over the past 3 decades in development of career planning for youngsters aged 22 to 25 and providing them global opportunities in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Owing to personal journey and development, have realized, development of youth and their careers can make a huge change to middle class and educated families. This initiative has made a material change for thousands of families owing to the success of the next generation pursuing greener pastures around the world
