Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku

Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku (transl.You are my beaming light) is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written, produced and directed by Karthik Adwait. The film stars Vikram Prabhu and Vani Bhojan. It was released on 23 June 2023,[1] to positive reviews from critics.[2]

Plot

Aravind is smart young man who suffers from nyctalopia. He has a supportive family and works in the cybersecurity field. He also is planning for his cousin sisters wedding when weird attacks start happening and he loses his father figure uncle to one such attack. How he tackles the problems he faces with short comings in his sight is the rest of the movie.

Casting

The project was announced by newcomer Karthik Adwait as his debut directorial venture. In 2020, Vikram Prabhu signed the film after the success of Vaanam Kottattum.[3] In April 2020, Vani Bhojan was signed in as the female lead. Kannada actor Dhananjaya (in his Tamil debut) was also signed to play a crucial role in this film.[4]

Filming

The shooting of the film was wrapped in April 2021.[5]

Music

The original background score is composed by Sunny-Saketh.The songs are composed by Sagar Mahati.The first single "Anicha Poove" was released on 9 June 2022.

Reception

Logesh Balachandran of The Times of India gave the film 2 out of 5 stars and wrote, "The promising initial set-up makes us believe that we are in for an intense thriller, but within half-an-hour into the film, things fall apart."[6] Siddarth Srinivas of Only Kollywood gave it 3 out of 5 stars and wrote, "Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku is a fine thriller that packs in some good sequences and keeps the ball rolling until the end."[7]

Manigandan K. R. of The South First gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and wrote, "The film is refreshingly new and the manner in which it is narrated keeps you engrossed in the plot."[8] A critic from Dinamalar gave the film a rating of 2.25 out of 5."[9]
