Paul Miller (radio presenter)

Paul James Miller (born 18 July 1966) is a radio presenter who resides in Twickenham, London. He presented The Paul Miller Show on BBC Local Radio in the South of England from 2000 to 2023.

Career

Miller joined BBC Radio Solent in October 1988, initially on a two-week placement helping out on Bill Buckley's afternoon show, after having sent in a demo tape. Having seen potential in the 22-year-old, the station sent him on various training courses, which led to him becoming a programming assistant. After impressing bosses doing occasional on-air traffic, weather and shipping forecast reports, he presented his first show covering an overnight shift in early 1991.

At one point, Miller was offered a job at Channel 4's Big Breakfast,[1] but turned down the offer because of his love for the radio.

He became a full-time travel reporter for the station, before being offered in 1996 a presenting gig on a weekly morning show called Sunday Scene. This was shortly followed by additional late night slots on Saturday and Sundays. These late shows would go on to be simulcast on BBC Southern Counties Radio from September 1997.

Between January 2000 and October 2023, Miller hosted the late show from 10pm to 1am Monday to Thursday (and Friday until 2021). The programme featured quizzes, games and calls from listeners. It would gradually be rolled out to six stations across the South of England:

On 27 March 2023, he announced that he will be leaving the show after 23 years of doing this show, and working for the BBC for 35 years. He said that leaving the show was his decision and that he felt it was the right time to leave the show.[2] He presented his final show on 5 October 2023.

The Paul Miller Soul Show

The Paul Miller Soul Show [3] was a primarily music based two hour show with occasional requests made by listeners. It has not aired since 2020.[4]
