History

Following his graduation from engineering school, Aaron Pfadt relocated to Detroit to commence his professional journey at General Motors. During his tenure in Detroit, he dedicated a significant amount of time to working on Corvettes and observing races. It was during this period that he conceived the idea of modifying a Corvette to enhance its competitiveness against vehicles like the Porsche and BMW. Subsequently, he decided to establish Pfadt Engineering in Salt Lake City, Utah.

After a phase of rapid growth in the sale of Corvette parts, the company introduced new suspension lines for the Camaro and Cadillac ATS. Additionally, they launched exhaust headers specifically designed for the Corvette and Camaro, all of which were produced in-house at the Salt Lake facility. To facilitate the manufacturing and distribution of the Pfadt product line, the company formed a partnership with Advanced FLOW engineering, headquartered in Corona, California. Under the leadership of Pfadt and the newly established Advanced Control Engineering division, the company continues to concentrate on the development of suspension products.[6]

Awards

In 2011, Pfadt Race Engineering was ranked #16 on the Utah 100 list of fastest-growing companies by the Mountain West Capital Network.[7] Similarly, in 2012, Pfadt Race Engineering achieved a ranking of #59 on the same list.[8]

Product line

The initial product line of Pfadt Race Engineering was influenced by owner Aaron Pfadt's experience with GM-based track vehicles. The company initially focused on developing suspension components for the C5 and C6 Corvette models. As they gained recognition as a top retailer for Corvette suspension, they expanded their product line to include the fifth-generation Camaro. Additionally, they broadened their focus to include power-enhancing products such as performance exhaust headers and a turbo kit designed for the Cadillac ATS 2.0L platform, which is capable of generating over 450 HP.[9]

GM Factory driver Johnny O'Connell

In 2010, Aaron Pfadt and Johnny O'Connell collaborated to introduce a new Corvette suspension line, incorporating O'Connell's signature and design input. This partnership, which began in 2010, has endured over time. Johnny O'Connell, a GM Factory driver, boasts an impressive racing record, including four victories at Le Mans and championship achievements with the Cadillac ATS. The initial package of the suspension line included sway bars and shock absorbers, making it suitable for both street and track applications. Due to the sustained popularity of the line, Pfadt and O'Connell joined forces once again to introduce a track-specific package, which featured adjustable coilovers and adjustable sway bars designed specifically for track day usage.

BMW

Following the acquisition by Advanced Flow Engineering, Pfadt Race Engineering undertook the development and release of a range of suspension components designed for BMW vehicles. This product lineup encompasses drop springs, sway bars, and coilovers, all of which are meticulously engineered, developed, and manufactured in Corona, California.[10]

Ford Mustang

The company expanded its market presence by introducing a suspension package tailored for Ford Mustang vehicles. This comprehensive package includes lowering springs and sway bars designed to enhance the performance and handling of the Mustang.[11]

Transition to AFE

As sales and product line expansions continued, the company sought a partnership to meet the growing demand and found a suitable collaborator in Advanced Control Engineering. After a brief period of downtime for the finalization of the new deal, the rebranded company commenced operations in August 2014 and initiated product shipments. Following the transition, the company introduced new product offerings for BMW and the latest Mustang, expanding its existing range of GM-based products.[12] Manufacturing of the suspension and exhaust header lineup remains at the company's headquarters in Corona, California, situated on a 150,000-square-foot facility.
