1947 – After a complete overhaul, Illinois Central Railroad's Green Diamond trainset re-enters active service, this time between Jackson, Mississippi, and New Orleans, Louisiana, as the Miss-Lou passenger train.
1970 – The first double-deck passenger cars to operate in regular service on Canadian passenger trains enter service in Montreal.[1]
1987 – Construction begins in Germany on the Berlin U-Bahn's U8 (map shown) line extension to Paracelsus-Bad.
1998 – Spain's Madrid Metro opens the section between Esperanza and Mar de Cristal on Line 4.
