After 12 consecutive victories, Suganob was faced against Mark Vicelles in a IBF World Light Flyweight title eliminator on February 25, 2023. In the fourth round, Vicelles goes down once, in the sixth round an accidental headbutt occurred causing a huge cut on Vicelles' right eyebrow, in the 8th Round, the Referee, Danrex Tapdasan looked for the doctor due to the fact that Vicelles' cut has worsen making this go to the Scorecards (Technical Decision), where the judges scored:80-71, 78-73 and 77-74 all in favor of Regie Suganob.[1]

IBF World Light Flyweight Championship

Suganob was now booked to fight the current IBF World Light Flyweight Champion, Sivenathi Nontshinga, at East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa in July 2, 2023[2] (formerly June 16, 2023).[3] It was set as a 12 Rounder match for the IBF Light Flyweight title, in the 1st Round, Suganob was knock downed in the late goings of the 1st Round, after 12 Rounds, Nontshinga won via UD with the scores of 116-111(x2) and 117-110.[4] Though,Nontshinga won that match, many Filipinos and even Suganob's camp was shocked at the scoring of the judges,[5] leading many to believed that its a Home Court/Town decision win, mostly for the fact that the fight is set in South Africa, Sivenathi Nontshinga's home country, Many believed that its a close match, it was either a draw or a 1 point up win for Suganob or 2-3 points up win for Nontshinga according to many fans.
