Robin Shaw

Robin Shaw was a member of the Ministry of Sound ensemble during the early 1960s, AllMusic described his workings in the ensemble with Micky Keen as “The core of the Ministry of Sound”.[3] Shaw and Keen wrote "I'm Coming Home" for The Nashville Teens.[1] Shaw left the Ministry of Sound in 1967 to be a member of The Flower Pot Men, a vocal group who had a number four charting song in 1967 with "Let's Go to San Francisco".[4] The Flower Pot Men was originally a studio project by The Ivy League members John Carter and Ken Lewis before Shaw, Tony Burrows, Pete Nelson, and Neil Landon, were hired to be the new Flower Pot Men. In 1969, the Flower Pot Men had ended, and the four members of the group formed White Plains. Landon left to form Fat Mattress and was subsequently replaced by Ricky Wolff. White Plains had a number nine charting hit in 1970 with "My Baby Loves Lovin'", and two more top 10 hits; "Julie, Do Ya Love Me" and "When You Are a King", a song that went to number four in the Netherlands.[5][6] The group was managed by songwriter and producer Roger Greenaway. Shaw left White Plains in late 1973.

Shaw and Burrows were a part of the session group The First Class, whose song "Beach Baby" peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1974. Like the Flower Pot Men, The First Class was also a studio project that was started by John Carter.[7] Shaw toured with Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers from 1988 to 2002. He was in a version of White Plains that included 1970s members Tony Burrows, Robin Box, and Roger Hills, and new member Paul Ward, from 2004 to 2006,[8] and also took part in a 2013 summer reunion tour.

He was born in Middlesex as Robin George Scrimshaw. Educated at Barnhill secondary school, he now lives in Brora, Scotland.
