Samira (also spelled Samirah, Sameera, and Sameerah; Arabic: سميرة pronounced [saˈmiːra]) is an Arabic female given name. It is derived from the root s-m-r ("to spend the night in talking"),[1] ultimately meaning "night-companion",[2] "entertaining companion",[3] "the one with lively conversation".[4] The masculine version of this name is Samir.
