Sanil Sachar

Sanil Sachar is an Indian author and a founding partner of Huddle, a venture capital firm based in Gurgaon.[1] Sachar wrote his first book, Summer Promises and Other Poems, while in university. He released two more books, The Dark Side of Light and Rebound, under the same publishing house, Rupa Publications, and his fourth book, And...Perhaps Love, with Penguin. Sachar is one of the co-owners of Trusox, an international sports brand.

Education

Sachar finished his education at Ackworth School when he moved to England at the age of 16.[2] Before this, he studied at Modern School in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. Sachar holds a Bachelor of Science in sport management from Sheffield Hallam University and worked at Star Sports before to starting his own ventures.

Books

Sachar's first book, Summer Promises and Other Poems, was published in 2013 by Rupa Publications while he was in his first year at university. Lyricist Javed Akhtar publicly launched the book.[3] In 2015, Sachar wrote his second book, The Dark Side of Light, which was well-received.[4][5][6] This third book, Rebound, is a mystery about a person with schizophrenia against the backdrop of a love story, and it was a bestseller.[7][8] Sachar then wrote his fourth book with Penguin Random House India, titled And...Perhaps Love.

1. Summer Promises and Other Poems

Summer Promises and Other Poems is Sachar's first book, which was published by Rupa Publications in April 2013.[9] The book was launched by lyricist Javed Akhtar and politician Manish Tewari in New Delhi. The book is a collection of 78 poems of various genres and a wide range of subjects such as love, fame, and failure. The book gives insight into the Sachar's life but also puts forward his perspective on the meaning of life and the experiences it offers. Muzaffar Ali called it "a diary of living life in all its simplicity and immediacy. It is about growing to know things in the process of growing up with things."

2. The Dark Side of Light

The Dark Side of Light is a combination of short stories and poems in several genres, like romance, comedy, murder, and mystery.[10]

3. Rebound

Rebound follows Abhimanyu, a man with schizophrenia who grows up in a circus.[11] Brought up by his uncle, the owner of the circus, Abhimanyu is lied to constantly. His uncle lords over Abhimanyu and is happy to sacrifice the boy for his greed and ambition.

Abhimanyu finally leaves home, but even after escaping he feels completely lost in a world he knows nothing about. As he learns to accept his freedom, he meets and falls in love with Rose, who gives him a reason to live and dream. However, Rose is a circus entertainer, and loving her means going back to the world of the circus that he hates, leading him to need to confront the demons inside and outside of his head.

4. And...Perhaps Love

And . . . Perhaps Love is about negotiating the life changes of distant relationships, virtual work, blurred futures, measuring your way back to reality, love, darkness and the attempt to find balance in life.

Producer

Sachar is the co-producer of Mantra, starring actors Rajat Kapoor, Kalki Koechlin, and Lushin Dubey, which was well-received by audiences[12][13] and won the best feature film award at the South Asian Film Festival in New York.

Family

Sachar is the son of Sita and Sanjiv Sachar, the grandson of Rajinder Sachar, and the great-grandson of Bhim Sen Sachar.
