Shanghai (radio serial)

Shanghai is a 1936 radio serial by Edmund Barclay.[2] It ran for 26 weeks.[3]

It was reportedly based on the experiences of Barlcay's father in India and followed on the success of Barclay's earlier serial, Khyber.[4]

The serial was very popular and Barclay later adapted it into a novel, published by Angus and Robertson in 1937.[5][6][7] The Bulletin described it as "Love and adventure in the Far East. Shaio Pao, the Lily, a Chinese princess, is the figure of mystery. Jerry, a second mate, and Ursula, a medical missioner, are the couple who glimpse each other at the beginning and are tied together at the end. The writer knows his job. "[8]
