Ja'afar Mahmud Adam

Shiekh Ja'afar Mahmud Adampronunciationⓘ (February 12, 1960 – April 13, 2007) was a Nigerian Salafist Islamic scholar and member of Nigeria's Jama’at Izalat al Bid’a Wa Iqamat as Sunna, a religio-political organisation with headquarters in Abuja. He lived primarily in Kano while he went to Maiduguri for his Annual Ramadan Tafsir.[1][2]

Adam preached in Maiduguri's Indimi Mosque, which was attended by the Deputy Governor of Borno.Thought sheikh ja'afar has died, his tafsir, lectures and other teaches including kitab-attauhid, Siffat As salat An-nabi, Umdatul ahkam, Riyaddus-Saliheen, Usul As-Salasa and other books are widely dispersed everywhere in Hausaland. Sheikh ja'afar tafsir is arguably most listening tafsir in Hausaland. [3]

Death

Sheikh Ja'afar was shot dead at his mosque during Subh prayer in the northern city of Kano in April 2007.[4][5]Regarding the perpetrators of the crime, opinions were split at the time. While some claim that Boko Haram, an extreme organisation, executed the sheikh, many others suggested that Mr. Shekarau, the governor of Kano at the time, may have been responsible because the cleric was one of his main detractors.[6]
