Sher Afzal Khan Marwat
Sher Afzal Khan Marwat (Urdu, Pashto: شیرافضل خان مروت; born 4 April 1971) is a Pakistani lawyer, currently serving as a legal practitioner at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Prior to his tenure at the Supreme Court, he held the esteemed position of a civil judge at the Peshawar High Court. Notably, Sher Afzal is an integral member of the core committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a prominent political party in Pakistan. Within the PTI, he leads the party's legal team, overseeing a range of crucial legal matters.

Education
Sher Afzal's educational journey began with his early education, after which he pursued Political Science and Government studies at Government Degree College Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He later enrolled in the LLB program at the University of Peshawar. In a quest for further knowledge, he traveled to the United Kingdom, where he successfully earned an LLM degree from Cardiff University, expanding his academic horizons and enhancing his legal qualifications.
Professional career
Sher Afzal initiated his career as a lawyer before assuming the role of Civil Judge at the Peshawar High Court in 2004. Subsequently, returning to private legal practice, he joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2017, where he took charge of the party's legal affairs.[11] Recognized for his contributions, he was appointed to the party's core committee.
During the aftermath of the tragic events on May 9, 2023, which led to a crackdown on PTI officials and the abduction of several members, Marwat, emerged as a prominent leader. He boldly represented Imran Khan while the party leader was in custody, demonstrating his commitment to the PTI cause.[12][13][14][15] Sher Afzal's journey reflects his significant role in both the legal profession and PTI's tumultuous history.
Controversy
On September 27, 2023, during a live TV program on Express News hosted by Javed Chaudhry, Sher Afzal Marwat engaged in a verbal altercation with PML(N) senator Afnan Ullah.[16][17][18] The confrontation escalated to a physical altercation, resulting in punches being thrown by Sher Afzal.[19][20][21]
While Sher Afzal openly acknowledged his involvement, there were conflicting accounts from PML(N) politicians and media influencers, who claimed that Sher Afzal had sustained injuries.[22][23] However, an FIR filed by Senator Afnan Ullah confirmed that he was indeed punched by Sher Afzal.[24][25][26] This incident garnered widespread attention and sparked debates in both political and media circles.[27][28][29]
