Kang Minjeong of IZM reviewed "Silica Gel is extremely present, fierce. The birth of a band full of "youth.""[4] The member of the selection committee for the Korean Music Awards Choi Jiho described the album as "The land they are stepping on is the world of plastic lyricism of synth-pop in the 80s and capitalist freaks created by post-punk. It is deeply rooted in the tradition of the genre. Somewhere between this tradition and the tension of injustice, this album exists," and the band won Rookie of the Year.[5]
