Silvia Cochetti

Silvia Cochetti (born 1945 Buenos Aires) is an Argentine paralympic athlete. Cochetti won thirteen medals, five of them gold, at the Summer Paralympic Games, in swimming, track and field, and wheelchair basketball.[1][2] In Tel Aviv 1968, she also obtained the world record in shot put in her class, with 7.15 m.

Career

At the 1964 Summer Paralympics, she won gold medals in Women's 50 meter Breaststroke Special class,[3] Women's 50 meter Freestyle Supine Special class,[4] and Women's 50 meter Freestyle Prone Special class.[5] She won a silver medal in Women's Discus Throw D,[6] and a bronze medal in Women's Club Throw D.[7]

At the 1968 Summer Paralympics, she won gold medals in Women's Shot Put Special class,[8] and Women's Discus Throw Special class.[9] She won silver medals in Women's Pentathlon Special class,[10] Women's Club Throw Special class,[11] and Wheelchair basketball.[12] She won bronze medals in Women's 50 m Freestyle Special class,[13] Women's Javelin Special class,[14] and Women's 4x40 meter Open.[15]

In 2010 the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires recognized her as an Outstanding Personality of the City of Buenos Aires.
