Sir Oswald Mosley, 5th Baronet

Sir Oswald Mosley, 5th Baronet (29 December 1873 – 21 September 1928) was a British Army officer, baronet, and the father of Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Union of Fascists (BUF).[1]

Biography

Born on 29 December 1873 in Beaumaris, Anglesey, he was the only son of Sir Oswald Mosley, 4th Baronet and Elizabeth Constance, Lady Mosley (née White), daughter of Sir William White.[1] He gained the rank of Captain in the 1/1st Derbyshire Yeomanry and served in Egypt during the First World War.[1] He succeeded his father as 5th Baronet Mosley, of Ancoats, in 1915. He became estranged from both his wife and his father, the latter describing him as a "gloomy blackguard".[2][3]

Mosley was married to Katharine Maud Edwards-Heathcote (1874–1948), daughter of Capt. Justinian Heathcote Edwards-Heathcote, of Apedale Hall, of the wealthy Staffordshire Heathcote family.[4] He died at his residence, Hilton Lodge, near Derby, on 21 September 1928.
