Sivakururaja Kurukkal

Sivakururaja kurukkal was the chief priest of the Koneswaram temple of Trincomalee, Sri Lanka who was shot dead by state-affiliated gunmen on September 21, 2008. The priest had led the revival of the district's Hindu heritage against the latest spate of state-sponsored Sinhalese-Buddhist encroachment and defended the human rights of Tamils.[1]
