Sons In Retirement (SIR) is a fraternal organization of retired men. It has about 91 branches and 10,000 members [1] in Northern California and Central California. SIR was founded in San Mateo, California in 1958 [2] and subsequently incorporated as a non-profit public-benefit corporation. The organization's purpose is:

'Our mission is to enhance the lives of our members through fun activities, luncheons, and events while making Friends for Life. Our expectations of our members are few: be a friendly and sociable guy, participate, volunteer as your time and interest allow, spread the word about SIR by inviting guests and help encourage them to join, grow our organization, and share in the fun. Our activities provide social, physical, and mental engagement for men over 50 and their partners. We live longer and have more fun! Based in Northern and Central California, our branches provide a range of activities, and many activities are coed! In February 2019, by a vote by the State Board of Directors, it was passed that the word SIR be adopted and used as a pronoun within the Branch membership and in public use.SIR is a 501(c)(4) corporation established in 1958.
The hallmark of the SIR logo is the rooster.[3]
