Stone, Great Wyrley and Penkridge (UK Parliament constituency)
Stone, Great Wyrley and Penkridge is a proposed constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament.[1] Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, it will first be contested at the next general election.
Contents
The constituency will comprise the three eponymous communities interspersed largely with rural areas:
- Stone is currently in the, to be abolished, constituency of Stone
- Great Wyrley, along with adjoining built up areas such as Cheslyn Hay, is part of the current constituency of South Staffordshire, which is to be reconfigured and named Kingswinford and South Staffordshire
- Penkridge will be transferred from Stafford
History
Following the announcement that Sir Bill Cash, the MP for Stone, would not be standing at the next general election, Sir Gavin Williamson, the current MP for South Staffordshire, was chosen as the Conservative candidate for this seat in July 2023.[2]
