Surakshya Panta
Surakshya Panta (Nepali: सुरक्षा पन्त) is a Nepalese actress, creative director and producer. She debuted as an actress from Alok Nembang's 2015 Ajhai Pani in a supporting role. Panta rose to fame after her role in Dhanapati.[2] She has also worked in critically acclaimed films like Gopi and Aama. She made her international debut in the Italian movie "The Eight Mountains” directed by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch.[3]

Personal life
Surakshya Panta was born in Butwal, Nepal.[4][5]
Panta married to her longtime boyfriend, Manav Subedi in March 2023.[1] Subedi is also a Nepalese film director and music producer.[6]
Biography
Before entering into the film industry, she worked as a civil engineer in various engineering firms. She holds a BE degree in civil engineering and MSc degree in Integrated Water Resources Management. She began her career in the entertainment industry as a media personality and VJ for national television networks including Kantipur, Sagarmatha, and News 24.[7] Her film career began in 2015 with her debut in the film Ajhai Pani.
Panta is the first Nepali film actor to walk the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival (2022).[8] She made her international debut in the Italian film The Eight Mountains directed by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch. The movie grabbed “The Jury Award” in Cannes Film Festival 2022.[9]
Panta has also worked in the theater play “Klesha” in Nepal, which was selected in the 2022 National School of Drama, International Theater Festival in India. She is a national award winner for her Nepali feature film “Aama”.[10] She was awarded the “Actor of the Year” award in the 2020 Block Buster Nepali film awards[11] and the "Best Supporting Actor" award in the 2019 NEFTA Film Awards.[12]
She enjoys writing poems and short movies. She has been a professional public speaker, emcee, and trainer for various educational and entertainment forums, as well as an organizer of different social campaigns. She describes herself as an education enthusiast. She uses her experience in Art and Civil engineering for humanitarian initiatives, child/girls education and the empowerment of local government.
Career
Film debut and commercial success (2015–Present)
Panta made her acting debut in the late Alok Nembang's final film, Ajhai Pani (2015), where she played the role of Shaili in the supporting role alongside Sudarshan Thapa and Pooja Sharma.
She later acted in Dipendra K Khanal's Dhanapati (2017) where she appeared in the lead role portraying the role of Dhanapati's wife.[13] She appeared with lead actor Khagendra Lamichhane. Upon release, the film became a blockbuster film in Nepal. The film earned 10 Million Nepalese rupee (1 crore) in just two days. Her role in Dhanapati received highly positive feedback from the Nepalese audience and critics.
In 2018, she appeared in Bhaire (2018), the first collaboration between Dayahang Rai, Barsha Siwakoti and Sunil Thapa.[14] In the film she appears as the love interest of Dayahang Rai.
After Bhaire, she collaborated with Naresh Kumar Kc in Romeo & Muna (2018), where she portrayed the role of a nurse named Pirya. In the film she appears in a supporting role alongside Shristi Shrestha and Vinay Shrestha. In late 2018, she played the lead role, Manisha, in Changa Chet. Her role in the film received mostly positive feedback. Writing for The Kathmandu Post, Abhimanyu Dixit stated:"... Surakshya Panta's character, Manisha, has a more prominent role..."[15]
In 2019, Panta appeared with Bipin Karki in Gopi (2019) where she appears as Gopi's (Bipin Karki) romantic interest.[16][17] The film received the National Film Award for "Best Film" in 2019. [18]
In 2022, she appeared in the film Ke Ghar Ke Dera. In 2023, she was played the role of Sandhya Regmi in Bahaab. Later in 2023, she acted in Bulaki.
