Tara Dragas

Tara Dragas (born 17 February 2007) is an Italian rhythmic gymnast[1] of Slovenian descent. She is the 2022 European ribbon junior silver medalist.

At the national level, she is the 2022 Italian Junior champion, a two-time (2020, 2021) Italian Junior silver medalist and the 2019 Italian Pre Junior champion.

Personal life

She took up rhythmic gymnastics at the age of four at the Associazione Sportiva Udinese, coached by her mother Špela Dragaš.[2] She has dual citizenship - Italian and Slovenian.

Career

Junior

Dragas debuted in the national team in November 2020 on the occasion of the bilateral between Italy and Germany held in Desio.[3] In May 2021 Dragas competed at the FIG International Tournament "Ritam Cup" in Belgrade, where she won the gold medal in the all-around, as well as three golds with hoop, clubs and ribbon, a silver with ball, and gold in the team competition along Giorgia Galli.[4] In 2022, she won 3 gold medals at the 5th edition of Comegym tournament,[5] two gold medals at the international tournament in Portimão,[6] and a silver medal with ribbon at the European Championships in Tel Aviv.[7] In October, she participated in Tart Cup, where she won four golds and a silver medal.

Senior

Tara became a senior in 2023, on March 24th it was announced she will be debuting at the World Cup Sofia along Milena Baldassarri and Sofia Raffaeli.[8] She took 19th place in All-around competition.[9] In April, she won gold in All-around at 35th MTM Tournament in Ljubljana. She also took home gold in Hoop and Ribbon, silver in Ball and bronze in Clubs.[10]

On June 10, Dragas competed at the 2023 Italian National Championships, her first one as a senior, and finished on 7th place in the all-around competition.[11] On next day, she won silver medal in clubs and bronze medal in hoop final.
