Teilhard Frost

Teilhard Frost is a Canadian folk musician, music teacher and banjo luthier based on Wolfe Island, Ontario. A specialist in Appalachian old time music, he plays fiddle, banjo, harmonica, spoons, bones and jaw harp. He step dances and is a square dance caller. He tours individually, with Sheesham, Lotus and 'Son, and in June 2023 toured Europe with The Complete Recordings of Hezekiah Procter. [1] [2] [3] He is represented in the UK by Alan Bearman Music. Locally, he is the music director for Calliope Collective (Kingston, Ont.) and has collaborated with Cantabile Choirs and Open Voices Choir. As a session musician at Hugh Christopher Brown's Wolfe Island Recordshe has contributed to albums by Michael Jerome Brown, The Gertrudes, Gary Rasberry, Michael C. Duguay, Lotus Wight, Jenny Whiteley, Michael Harrington, Geoff Marshall, Suzanne Jarvie, The Millwrights, Rich Tyo, Steven Heighton, Rocky Roberts, and Benoit Schryer-Lefebvre. He collaborates with Jason Mercer.

Teilhard teaches fiddle and banjo privately and developed "The Acoustic Music Project; No Batteries Required" for large audiences, which has been presented via Blues in the Schools, Live Wire in the Schools, Prologue to the Performing Arts, and internationally to school groups in Kenya and Mongolia. Teilhard has taught at Folkcamp, AlgomaTrad, and Blue Skies in the Community.

Teilhard Frost makes traditional fretless gourd banjos which have been played by Rhiannon Giddens, Mike Seeger, and David Woodhead.
