The Cockpit (public house)
The Cockpit is a public house at 7 St Andrew's Hill, in the City, London, where it meets Ireland Yard.

It is a Grade II listed building, built in about 1860.[1] There has been a public house here since the 16th century and possibly earlier, with claims that William Shakespeare would, at least, have likely been aware of its existence, having bought a home nearby. He was a partner in the nearby Blackfriars Theatre.[2]
Formerly named The Cock Pit, having hosted cockfights, it became The Three Castles in the mid-19th century. It was given its current name in 1970, after a renovation.[2]
