Reception

According to the review aggregator Metacritic, There's Always Glimmer received "generally favorable reviews" based on a weighted average score of 75 out of 100 from six critic reviews.[2] Writing for The Line of Best Fit, Chris Taylor rated this album an 8 out of 10, praising Margaret's vocals and stating that the album "isn’t perfect, but that's appropriate really: trying to sort out your feelings in trauma's wake never is".[3] Margaret Farrell of Pitchfork Media gave this album a 7.4 out of 10, writing that it is made up of "serene, perceptive storytelling" and that the singing "radiates nostalgia, but not longing".[4]
