It has a Chinese name, "Great Tianhuang Emperor" (Chinese: 天皇大帝, tiānhuángdàdì) which means "The Emperor of Heaven". It is an independent constellation in the system of Chinese constellations, belonging to the Purple Forbidden enclosure.
