Troublesome Creek in Hindman, Kentucky

In the book On Troublesome Creek, author James Still describes the local culture of family, self-sufficiency, and hard work.[3] The "Blue Fugates", a family so-called because some of them had blue skin from inheriting methemoglobinemia, lived in the area in the 19th and 20th centuries.[4][5]
