Turki Al-Sheikh

Turki AbdulMuhsen A. AlAlShikh (Arabic: تركي بن عبد المحسن بن عبد اللطيف آل الشيخ; born August 4, 1981),[1] is a Saudi adviser at the Royal Court under the rank of Minister and the current Chairman of General Authority for Entertainment.[2][3] Al-Shikh has held sports positions including president of the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA), head of the Department of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), chairman of the General Sports Authority (currently the Ministry of Sport) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is also the chairman of the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee, honorary president of the Al Taawoun Football Club in Buraidah, honorary president and chairman of the honorary members of the Al-Wehda Football Club in Mecca, and the former owner of the Egyptian Pyramids Football Club.[4]

Career

Al-Shikh graduated from King Fahad Security College in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in Security Sciences.[2] Received certificates in criminology, investigation, risk management, and general management. He then worked in several government sectors including the Interior Ministry, the Emirate of Riyadh and the office of the Defense Minister and the Crown Prince.[2] He was appointed an adviser to the royal court in 2015 and later, in 2017, he was promoted to be a royal advisor with the rank of minister.[2]

In September 2017, a royal decree was issued to appoint him as the new chairman of the General Sports Authority.[5] In December 2018, he was appointed as chairman of the General Authority for Entertainment.[6]

Sport

Al-Shikh is Chairman of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF),[7][8] and previously Honorary President of Al-Taawoun in Buraidah. He used to be the owner of the Egyptian club Pyramids FC from 2018 to 2019.[9][10] On 2 August 2019, he became the owner of UD Almería, replacing Alfonso García Gabarrón.[11] He named Mohamed El Assy as general director of the club.[12]

Publication

In addition to his official and honorary career, Turki Al-Shikh was known for his artistic writing, and his lyrics were enriched by a number of Arab artists.[13] His lyrics were sung by Mohammed Abdu, Kadim Al-Saher, Majid Al-Muhandis, and Abdul Majid Abdullah. The singer Amr Diab sang his lyrics in several songs "Ahla Haga", " Ya Agmal Eyoun " and the song "Kol Hayati". On September 14, 2023, Cello, the film that was written by His Excellency, was released. [14]

  • The most influential Arab sports personality of the year 2017 at the 12th Dubai International Sports Conference.[2][15][16]
  • The Arab Sports Personality Award in Mohammed bin Rashid Award of the year 2018.[17][18]
  • The Arab Sport Culture Award of 2017.[19]
  • Awarded the King Abdulaziz Scarf of the second class by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on May 4, 2021.
