History

Before Ugly Butterfly opened, Handling cooked from its location for the G7 world leaders during the G7 Summit 2021 in Cornwall.[6][7] The restaurant opened in August 2021.[8] It is the sister restaurant of michelin-starred Frog by Adam Handling Restaurant in Covent Garden and The Loch & the Tyne, located in the countryside of Old Windsor.[9][10][11][12]

The menu at Ugly Butterfly by Adam Handling features locally sourced ingredients from in and around Cornwall.[13][14] The Ugly Butterfly bar uses trims and offcuts from the dishes in the restaurant to form the basis of their drinks and bar snacks.[15][16][17]
