Vijayapal

Vijayapal was a Yadav/Yaduvanshi ruler who traced his descent from the Surasena dynasty of Mathura[1][2] and ruled the area which later became Karauli, Dholpur and Bharatpur. He is mentioned in an inscription dated 1043 and is credited with the construction of the Bayana fort (also known as Vijaymandirgarh or Bijai Garh).

Abu Bakr Kandhari stormed the Bayana fort in 1047.[3] His men defeated the Rajputs, whose women committed jauhar in the fort. He was killed in battle and buried outside Bayana. His lineage moved further south and Vijayapal's successor Tahanpala (also called Tribhuvanpala or Tawanpal) constructed the Timangarh fort. Later on their descendants were called Rajput clans like Jadauns and Bhati, they trace their ancestory from Ahirs of Mathura
