Background
Founded in 2016[3] by multi-instrumentalist, scholar, and composer Andrew Arceci,[4] the Winchendon Music Festival is dedicated to the memory of his father, Robert J. Arceci (1950-2015), a pediatric oncologist with a passion for the arts.[5]
The Festival's founder, Andrew Arceci, serves as Festival Director and frequent benefactor. He performs on viola da gamba, violone, and bass.[6][7] He leads and directs several of the Festival's musical programs each year.[8]
Noted artists have included Anne Azéma, Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol Trio, Randall Scotting, Arcadia Players, and other acts. The COVID-19 pandemic limited operations 2020-2021, but the Festival resumed in 2022.[9][10][11][12]
The Festival presents solo, small ensemble, and chamber orchestral programs[13][14] at several venues, including the American Legion, Beals Memorial Library, Murdock-Whitney House (Winchendon History & Cultural Center), Old Centre Church (Old Centre Historic District), and the Robinson Broadhurst Amphitheater.[15][16][17][18]
