Wolfgang Plan

Wolfgang Plan is a German right-wing criminal. On October 19, 2016, he shot and killed an officer from the Northern Bavarian Special Operations Command (SEK) of the Bavarian Police. Three other officers were also shot.

Plan is activist of the Reich Citizens' Movement. The political background of the case triggered a nationwide discussion about the threat of “Reich Citizens’ Movement” in support of active right-wing extremism. Also their monitoring by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution was discussed.[1]

Plan's permit to own weapons was revoked. The police should confiscate the 31 weapons stored in his house. On the morning of October 19, 2016, the SEK broke into the house at 6 a.m. The police had previously deliberately drawn attention to themselves with blue lights and sirens to prevent Wolfgang Plan from believing that criminals wanted to break into his house early in the morning.[2][3]

Plan immediately opened fire on the officers with a handgun through a closed door. Four officers were injured. One of the injured officers, a 32-year-old SEK police officer, later died from his serious injuries.[4]

Wolfgang Plan was sentenced to life imprisonment for treacherous murder, attempted murder twice, and grievous bodily harm.[5]
