Background

Yukhu (az: Yuxu) was formed by Ibrahim Eminov, Chingiz Eyvazov and Namig Nagdaliyev in 1987 in Sumgait, Azerbaijan. Though, the band was formed in Azerbaijan, Xəzərin Sahilində was released in Turkey. The band had four songs in late of 80s, but these four songs were recorded first time as demo by Rafig Babayev in 1989. The first and only single by Yukhu is Xəzərin Sahilində what had been taken a music video for it in 1991 by Vahid Nakhish[4]

Releasing the album

The band had planned to travel to Paris for a festival, but they stayed in Turkey for an unknown reason and started to play their songs in local bars. During these times, Tevfik Yılmaz, who they met in 'Tual bar', suggested them to release a studio album. Meanwhile, the band's vocalist Jasur Nematov was in Moscow for completing his study. The members invited him to Istanbul, and they recorded songs in Uzelli Müzik Studio, produced by Ismail Üzelli and their first ever studio album was released on 11 October 1993.

Lyrics and changes

All songs were written by band members, but two songs' lyrics (Xəzərin Sahilində and Döngə) were originally belonged to Eminov's father. Eminov changed some words later. Məni Sənsən Düşündürən, Şər, Xəzərin Sahilində and Üzəbüz were written until 1989 in Azerbaijan, rest of the album were written and composed in Turkey from 1991 to 1992.

Məni Sənsən Düşündürən's name was changed during recording for the album. Previously, it was named as Ana (en. Mother). The song was written for soldiers' mothers during First Nagorno-Karabakh War.

The tenth song (Döngə) of the album was vocalized by band's bassist Ibrahim Eminov and the song's lyrics belonged to Eminov's father.

Yukhu was very successful to use fluent Azerbaijani in their songs. They were mostly mentioning in their songs for injustice regime during USSR, land occupation by Armenia during First Nagorno-Karabakh War, and about love. Eşit, ey Düşmən! (en. Hear hey Enemy!) was written directly to Armenian invasion. Intrumental song Papaq (en. Hat) was traditional folk music of Azerbaijan. It had been synthesised with rock music.
