Yovana Ahumada

Yovana Alejandra Ahumada Palma (born 24 February 1973) is a Chilean agricultural technician, politician and a member of the Chamber of Deputies from District 3 in the Antofagasta Region since March 2022. She is the leader of the Party of the People (PDG) in the Chamber of Deputies.[1]

Education and career

Yovana Ahumada began her early education at School D-91 before being transferred to Colegio Antofagasta where she completed her primary education. She studied at the Girls’ High School, Antofagasta for her secondary education and attended Nobelius Lyceum, Punta Arenas  where she graduated in 1990. She worked as an insurance agent and later sanitation and cleaning services until 2019 when she entered politics.[2]

She began her political career with People's Movement. Later she joined Party of the People formed by Franco Parisi and became one of the party's national vice presidents. She ran in the 2021 parliamentary election for the District 3 in the Antofagasta on the nomination of People's Party. She won the election with 11, 892 votes or 6.53% of the total votes cast in the district. She assumed office on 11 March 2022 and became the head of the PDG caucus in the Chamber of Deputies.[3][4]
