Yushaev Zamir

Zamir Tagirovich Yushaev (Russian: Зами́р Таги́рович Юша́ев, born 22 April 1965, Khasavyurt, Dagestan ASSR, RSFSR, USSR) is a Chechen artist currently residing in Leipzig, Germany. He is a member of the Union of Artists of Germany.[1]

Biography

Yushaev was born on 22 April 1965 into a large family in Khasavyurt. His father was a watchmaker and amateur artist. In 1984, he graduated from an art school in Makhachkala and subsequently served in the Soviet Army for two years. From 1987 to 1992, he studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg alongside his older brother, Sultan. Yushaev completed his studies at the Institute of Arts at Leipzig University in 1997.

Since 1999, he has been residing in Germany, where he operates from his studio-gallery in Leipzig.[2] Yushaev has gained membership in the Union of Artists of Germany.[3][1]

Style and works

Yushaev's artistic expression is rooted in surrealism and, more recently, performance art. His paintings can be found in private and public collections worldwide, including Austria, Brazil, Germany, Denmark, France, Japan, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Czech Republic, the United States, and various other.[1] Additionally, he accommodates requests for caricature drawings.[4]

His work has garnered considerable acclaim, attracting clients such as Angelina Jolie, the late Montserrat Caballé, as well as Russian politicians and businessmen. Yushaev proudly represents the Chechen people and their artistic heritage, often donning Circassian clothing and incorporating Chechen symbols into his creations.[5]

Aside from his artistic pursuits, Yushaev has a passion for martial arts and has achieved numerous accolades, including a black belt in karate.[5]
