Cette espèce se rencontre du Mexique à la Bolivie[1].

Les espèces Gelanor heraldicus[2], Gelanor gertschi[3] et Gelanor depressus[4] ont été placées en synonymie avec Gelanor consequus par Benavides et Hormiga en 2016[5].
