Type locality: Mexico, Coahuila: Sierra del Jardin, Cañon de Centinela, S and SW of Pico de Centinela, steep canyon through mtns of igneous rock, mostly intrusive basics, gravelly, grussy, and sandy soils, chaparrales, and higher on N slopes, 1600–2225 m, Quercus spp., Pinus spp., Pseudotsuga, Ceanothus, Cercocarpus
