Type locality: "in Valle Toluca", Mexico
- As given in Nees & Schauer (1847: 698) and Funston (2008: 298)
Holotype: Aschenborn [718] (B , destroyed; fragment, GH)
- Nees & Schauer (1847: 698) cite no numbers, but according to Funston (2008: 298), several later authorities cite Aschenborn 718 (which she qualifies as "presumably destroyed"). Hemsley (1881: 236) reports seeing what may have been a type specimen at K, but it could not be located (Funston, 2008: 298). In any case, if Aschenborn 718 is a type, the GH fragment is a holotype, not a lectotype.
