çast
Albanian
Etymology
Uncertian. Toskë 'çast' is a variation of Gheg 'kast' (which preserved the /k/ sound). The meanings of Gheg 'kast' are particulary "aim/intent" and/or "(es)specially". Corresponding to Hindi ख़ास (xās) ("distinguished, special"; borrowed from Arabic خَاصّ (ḵāṣṣ)) and Sanskrit काष्ठाf (kastha) ("aim"). Might be borrowed from Latin, or a cognate to Latin occāsus.
