Etymology
Singularized plural form of *çerdhë, either from ç + herdhe, from dialectal çuherdhe (cf. çubardhë, çafurde etc.), attested in Gazulli as quherdhe, from Proto-Albanian *škerdā, earlier *skarda, possibly reflected in the first part of the Illyrian proper name Skerdilaidas.
