From Proto-Germanic *þauh, corresponding to Proto-Germanic *þau (in that case) + Proto-Germanic *-uh (and) (cognate with Latin -que). Cognate with Old Frisian thāch, Old Saxon thōh, Dutch doch, Old High German doh (whence German doch), Old Norse þó, whence Icelandic þó (still, yet)), Gothic 𐌸𐌰𐌿𐌷 (þauh).
