Etymology

The origin is uncertain. Perhaps from Scythian *χrohu-käsi (ice-shining, white with snow). Compare also Old Armenian Կապկոհ (Kapkoh, Caucasus), Middle Persian [script needed] (Kap-kōf, Caucasus).
