Usage notes

This similar sounding conjunction άραγε (árage, “I wonder”) is often wrongly used in place of this adverb:

  • Η Κρήτη είναι νησί, άραγε θα πάω με το πλοίο εκεί. ― I Kríti eínai nisí, árage tha páo me to ploío ekeí. ― Crete is an island, therefore I will go there by ship.
  • Η Κρήτη είναι νησί, άρα θα πάω με το πλοίο εκεί. ― I Kríti eínai nisí, ára tha páo me to ploío ekeí. ― Crete is an island, therefore I will go there by ship.
