σῆραγξ
Ancient Greek
Etymology
Formally similar to φάραγξ (pháranx, “ravine”). Sometimes connected with σέσηρα (sésēra, “to grin”), but this is semantically unprobable. It is rather a Pre-Greek word, in view of the suffix.
