виделка
Ukrainian
Etymology
From Proto-Slavic *vidly + -ка (-ka) where the vowel sound was moved by metathesis. Compare to West Slavic which also kept the "d" sound as in Polish widły, Czech vidle (diminutive vidlička). Another form exists as Ukrainian вилка (vylka) where the "d" was dropped as in the other East Slavic (and South Slavic) languages.
