дарь

Mongolian
Etymology
From Persian دارو (dâru, “medicine, gunpowder”), probably through Turkic judging by unrounding of the final -u.
Although gunpowder was already known to the Mongols during the Middle Mongolian period, this word is seemingly unattested until later.
Compare East Yugur daari, Kalmyk дәр (där), Buryat дари (dari), Kazakh оқ-дәрі (oq-däri), Tuvan дары (darı).
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /tarʲ/
