дөгө
Bashkir
Etymology
From Old Turkic [Term?] tögi (tögi, “millet”), from Proto-Turkic *tögi (“millet”).
In Bashkir, the initial d- and the retension of -g- point to a old loan from an Oghuz or Karluk source; the expected Kypchak reflex should be tüy- (as attested in Karachay-Balkar, Nogai tüy (“millet”)). Also consider the related Bashkir verb stem töy- (“thresh, pound”) (from Old Turkic tög- (tög-, “id.”)).
