Etymology
Either from Greek καίω (kaío, “to burn”) and αυγά (avgá, “eggs”)[1] or borrowed from Ottoman Turkish خاگینه (hâgîne), itself from Persian خاگینه (xâgine)[1]. Compare Serbo-Croatian ка̏јгана/kȁjgana.
