Etymology
From Proto-Slavic *moltъ, from Proto-Indo-European *melh₂- (“to grind, crush”), whence also млѣти (mlěti, “to grind”). Compare similar semantic development from the same Proto-Indo-European root in Latin malleus (“hammer”), beside the usual reflex molō (“I grind”).
